Olympic Peninsula Getaway
Dates: Jul 23-27
Meeting time on Jul 23: 8am
Open to all ages over 12 with parent(s). The cabin will be our home base while we explore the Western side of the Olympics. It sleeps 8, has indoor plumbing, and there are ample locations if you prefer the privacy of your own tent in the surrounding meadow or forest. A generator provides limited charging power. Internet is available via an uphill 1/4 mi walk. So you will be enjoying a digital and media cleanse while at the cabin. There is floating and swimming available every day. We plan a quest for "The Quietest Square Inch" in the Hoh Rain Forest, plus a day hike on the Bogachiel's own much less travelled Rain Forest. The cabin is within easy biking distance of the Third Beach trailhead and 3 mile hike to the Ocean. A typical day will be: enjoy a big breakfast, pack a lunch, and head out to the day's destination; either lounging along the river near the cabin, or heading out for a 5-10 mile day hike. In the evening we'll gather for family style dinner and dessert, and hanging around the campfire.
Devotional content will draw on the Psalms, especially the Imprecatory Psalms... JK, we'll be leaning into the more meditative and creation oriented ones.
Cost: $200
Hikes will be moderate difficulty, due to multiple days and activity choices. Minimal elevation gain, but some rough trail walking will be done every day.
The cabin will be home base for four days while we explore the Western side of Olympic Peninsula.
