Fire or Form? As the early church began to develop its sense of identity, it was challenged to consider the form, content, and meaning of what it meant to follow Jesus. The church at Philippi provides Pauls with a case study for the challenge of being a church that doesn’t “form” but “follows” the way of Jesus in ever expanding ways: I. Form: Bounded set vs. Centered set, II. Content: Purity vs. Compassion, III. Meaning: Measured vs. Measureless
Series Date: 5/19/2024 - 6/17/2024
Series Summary: This new series follows the Holy Spirit's work through Paul's letters. The flame grows as new, multiethnic communities of faith are established through Paul’s missionary journeys—men and women, Jew and Gentile, slave and free, marked not by social status but by their commitment to follow Jesus and by God’s presence dwelling in them through the Holy Spirit.
